Western Region Cross Alliance Planning Project

Overview

Health and community organisations across Melbourne’s western region have been exploring questions related to population health and wellbeing planning since 2000. In 2005, WestBay Alliance took the lead on planning for the Western Primary Care Partnerships Cross Alliance group, which included Brimbank Melton Primary Care Partnership (PCP), Moonee Valley/Melbourne PCP and WestBay Alliance.

Achievements

  • Planning work included an exploration of definitions, data sources, investment in planning activities, and the Western PCPs Population Health and Wellbeing Planning Feasibility Study (commissioned in 2005).
  • Support was provided to the Western Region Integrated Health and Wellbeing Project, developed by six councils in Melbourne’s west, to develop better planning tools and identify shared processes to strengthen regional planning.

Resource

The planning alliance developed the Western PCPs Cross Alliance Planning Resource Kit to capture knowledge and ideas to inform ongoing dialogue and new initiatives both within and between organisations and sectors concerned with population health and wellbeing.
