The HealthWest Strategic Forums provide an opportunity for executive and senior management of HealthWest member organisations to discuss and plan for strategic activities of HealthWest Partnership.
2011 Strategic Forums
Let's Talk Medicare Locals, 25 March 2011
This strategic forum aimed to:
- Ensure members have an up-to-date understanding of the directions and processes associated with the formation of Medicare Locals
- Facilitate members to share their thinking and views on the formation of Medicare Locals in the West
- Promote a continued sense of partnership across our sectors including primary health, local government and metropolitan health services
- Inform Health West’s principles, positions and action in relation to Medicare Local formation

Shared Priority Forums
The HealthWest Shared Priority Forums are an opportunity for service providers and health promotion planners and practitioners to identify shared issues. It is also the forum where practitioners provide input to the strategic activities of HealthWest. Shared Priority Forums are held twice per year.
2011 Shared Priority Forums
Looking Forward Together - Setting the Priorities 2012-2015
The purpose of the Forum was to provide HealthWest members with an opportunity to:
- Contribute to setting the shared priorities of the Partnership for the next 3 years (2012-2015)
- Contribute to formulating the objectives within the shared priorities
- Contribute to joining up strategies that link our work in prevention, health promotion, early intervention and treatment
Tackling Diabetes in the West, May 2011
This forum aimed to:
- Provide information about the Tackling Diabetes in the West Project
- Build an understanding of the findings of the ACCD and HealthWest diabetes prevalence and food security mapping projects
- Consider the findings of the mapping projects in the context of the Healthy Communities, Healthy Lives Model
- Identify opportunities/activities/ projects which could be undertaken by HealthWest members and ACCD to decrease the incidence and impact of diabetes in the west by joining up population, prevention and early intervention to chronic care initiatives
