The Categories
Includes the size of the population and its age distribution, what the population is going to look like in the future, its current birth rates, and the diversity of the population (for example, Indigenous population, countries of birth, recent arrivals, disability estimates).
Includes profiles of households and families, the weekly incomes of households, whether people are owners, buyers or renters of their homes, the costs associated with rentals and housing loan repayments (including levels of housing stress), and the numbers of those applying for public housing.
Includes levels of disadvantage (for example, Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage, unemployment rates); the numbers of people in the labour force; the individual incomes of the working population, their occupations and industries; the amount of unpaid work undertaken by people; the levels of educational attainment; and the money spent on electronic gaming machines.
Health Status and Health Behaviours
Includes the life expectancy of the population, its disease burden, prevalence of diabetes and other chronic diseases, including their determinants.
Community Health and Wellbeing
Includes the ‘wellness’ status of the population according to the economic, social, environmental (natural and built), democratic and cultural life of communities, covering self-reported health status, sense of community connectedness, level of social support, perception of safety, level of food security, sense of work/life balance, participation in arts and cultural activities, opinion on cultural diversity, and participation in citizen engagement.
Includes crime rates, family violence incidents, number of traffic accidents, and ‘hoon’ driving incidents.
